Genuine Product Pricing [GPP] Part 2

Continuation Of Genuine Product Pricing....

One might call it Genuine Product Pricing or GPP. Instead of say asking, for an example, $599.99  you consider getting real and put down the genuine price as $600.00. You might ask if customers wouldn't be  perturbed for not allowing them to experience the one cent saving on a purchase of something that costs hundreds of dollars but I'd suspect they'd get over it don't you think?  They might even stop to consider that you're a business which tells things like they are and feel good about giving you that extra penny when they see your price as say, $800.00 instead of $799.99.

I'd like us all to imagine a world where you walk in a store and see ads and see stickers on tags as, "We're firmly and absolutely are committed to GPP as apart of our friendly good service" Would it mean that one could never price something in the 90 range? No, there can be genuine exceptions but when it's a pattern concerning everything and all things bringing all things right up to the last penny before the 10 can't it be agreed that's being rather ingenious? A rather interesting thing I've always found quite humorous in talking to store clerks in discussing the price of their products I'd ask them, about one thing here for $999,99 and another for $499.99 "So you're really wanting 1000 for this and 500 for that."

They've always agreed that they are so how about we say that from the start? My thought is to bring about a group of people I guess perhaps on Facebook people who put out a call for Genuine Product Pricing or GPP. I'm wondering if this generation is up to the challenge and have the courage to employ GPP or whether the legacy of having done so will belong to some future generation, but one thing for certain I firmly believe it will take place.

Perhaps I'll get a Facebook group of 9,999,99 and maybe you my reader will be that extra one to bring it over the 10! A prize maybe for the one who becomes number 10 million? Ha, we'll see! I may not though get any more then 9 and I may not even get 1 and if so future generations you can add me to your list of your nine, ninety nine nine nine and I'll put you over the top making it Even Stephen. You don't know what that means?  Well there's a history lesson for you!  If  you can send the answer to me back in time I'll try to send you back 99 cents!

Genuine Product Pricing [GPP] Part 1

Lets talk about feelings shall we---How's it make you feel when you're in the market  and you see the price of things set at $3.99, $19.99 or $199.99? Looking at more costly items you might see $999.99 or how about $19,999.99. Yes I'm aware that they'll juggle even a few numbers different and call it 19,998.07 but the idea is still the same---make the customer "seem" or "feel"  they're getting their product purchase at a lower level of cost. $3.99 has the feel of 3 dollars and well....just something a little extra, and $199.99 seems like around $100.00, or something like that.

If one looks at a price label of $19,999.99 then what's the feeling left with that?  $19,000.00?  Is it my purpose  to stand against the liberties of a free society and to stop by legislative force the rights of a citizenry to do so as they please in the setting of their price of goods or services?  No, a thousand [1000] times NO, and you'll notice I didn't stay with 999 but rounded it off to 1,000.   No, most certainly we do not need any more invasive ways for government to seek to try to control us. Having said that if there is any practise we collectively should rightly deem to be 'politically innorrect' or something to be considered genuinely a rather taboo thing to do in all honesty shouldn't this be added to the list?

Nine, ninety nine, 9999 and some would want to throw in a few more nines for good measure? "Don't yeah know," somebody might state, "that if you add in a 7, like 997.99 that works even better?"  I'm sure it does! Now you've made them feel they've got something lucky as well, YUP LUCKY NUMBER 7.  Am I seeking to vilify any and all who have used the power of staying with 9 and not crossed the line into calling for the more true genuine price? I'd like to believe I'm not but I'd like one and all to at least consider the question that can't we as a culture do better?

The power of coming up to only the nine could be argued that it has the capacity to increase more sales but that would mean the bottom line, or the making of a buck is the governing factor in determining all things. With all due respect I'd contend among a civilized culture this thing should not be. Let me be perfectly clear that I'm not calling for a boycott for businesses that use the nine, ninety-nine nine nine approach. I'd imagine most of us would starve if I did. I am however calling for the business world to stop, reflect and have the courage to consider a whole new approach.

Revisiting Susan Boyle Audition Part 5 of 5

This is my 5th and final blog of my series, Revisiting The  Susan Boyle Audition.  Periodically I'd like to come back and do some other blogs concerning Susan as well.  As was expected her career has done extremely well, and it should be most interesting to see how develops even more so, in the years ahead. Without question Susan's audition and story impacted the world.  Pierce Morgan, one of the judges of BGT in 2009, stated that one of the great things about Susan was that when the world was going through a pretty tough time and needed some inspiration Susan came along to provide it.

David Hasselhoff, former AGT judge, stated along the lines, that Susan Boyle should even run for the President of the world because she energized everybody and taught one and all a very big lesson.  While I'm not sure Susan would be interested in being the President of the world I'm sure she's delighted to know that many do think of her as one who's been an inspiration.

This Week, magazine in their year end rap up of 2009 did cartoon caricatures of the big news makers of the year. As you can see it has US President Barack Obama, Capt. Sullenberger, Sarah Palin, plus others but interestingly enough Susan Boyle is aboard the rescue raft being the one to save them all!

I'd say that pretty much sums up the impact that the Susan Boyle audition of 2009 had on the world.  I sincerely believe there was no reason why she shouldn't have been considered a serious contender for the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize, and before anybody might make light of the  suggestion may I remind everyone there's been  numerous times ones has been a recipient of the award who never really had themselves done anything from the standpoint of negotiating actually peace between nations. There is precedent where it has been awarded to individuals  who were deemed inspiring persons of a year and who could argue that Susan Boyle wasn't that?  Susan Boyle, the person, her music, and story served as a wake up call.

It reminded each one to show that little extra measure of  patience, to be less hasty, rendering a judgement and be willing to listen to what others are actually bringing to the table when it comes to their talents, opinions or ideas. Give people and things a chance, might be the best way to sum up what the Susan story meant to be world and isn't that most definitely a  qualifying factor in receiving a Nobel Peace Prize?

In closing here are a list of some things Susan Boyle has achieved since the audition of 2009, and special thanks to Canadian Bill and Lisa Pully two wonderful  fans of Susan Boyle who researched this and granted me permission to place it on my blog.  You can meet CB and Lisa on www.susan-boyle.com a great place to go to meet Susan fans from around the world!
