The days following having viewed the Susan Boyle video I took a keen interest in how the story would develop. Would she win the 'Britain Got Talent' competition? The world was watching to see! I combed the internet each day always intrigued by reading the editorials from journalists world-wide and their take on Susan . Fan sites very quickly began springing up and one in particular I think you'll find excellent is http://www.susan-boyle.com/ If you're interested in the following and tracking of Susan's career from its start to the present day I'd highly recommend it.
It was my privilege and honour to actually even serve there as a moderator, that is one of a group of moderators overseeing the site for a period of time. I believe you'll find it's one of the best when it comes to keeping informed about Susan and her career, and is a fun place to visit as you can make friends with other Susan fans from around the world. Back once again to the Susan audition, many had wondered, what lessons even about life itself could be learned from the event. Is all one can take from it, is that Susan was merely a-wanna-be-professional singer, doing her thing, hoping for recognition?
Partly, but I'd suggest there's a lot more to it then that, and I'm referring to how it applies to us. Can't we all in many ways see ourselves similar to Susan Boyle? Don't we all feel at times we might have potential talents, that for one reason or another have never been recognized or allowed to come forth? I'm sure that feeling is pretty much universal among the masses so maybe in that way we can see a similarity between Susan and ourselves. Simon Cowell referred to Susan as, "a little tiger" to which she replied she wasn't sure about that. I am!
If you knew the length of time she had to tarry long in a waiting room before receiving the thumps up to march out on stage it might surprise you. I'd direct you to pick up a copy of her autobiography, "The Woman I Was Born To Be" to see the details, but I dare say a great many people would have exclaimed, "Forget it! I'm going home!" or how about, "You not so nice individuals! You asked me to arrive at a certain time, and now it's way into the evening!" Susan however did not lose her composure or allow the aggravation of waiting to move her in the slightest! When the time finally arrived she marched out on stage, was gracious and good-humoured, in spite of added jeers from the audience and even the judges acting towards her in a condescending manner.

Yes, this is a very good book to get the insight into what really did take place before Susan's auditiion.
ReplyDeleteAnd concerning your comment about talent. Some people can say another has such a great talent and someone else says they don't or puts the person down. I guess the best thing is to listen to your own heart and go for it like Susan did. Another great post Bob. Looking forward to part 3 :)

Perhaps we know each other :>) January 21 is indeed a special day for Susan Fans - the day of her Glasgow Audition - she went home alone to her cat afterwards, no celebration - but her fans certainly celebrate now!
