Feds Funny Food Price Position!

Image
How utterly magnanimous of them! I saw a news clip the other day that the Feds are warning that food prices will probably be going up. What an insight! And aren't you so glad you've been told? How wonderful that they'd give us the heads up! It almost makes me wonder if they'll use this as an election item trying to demonstrate their unassailable wisdom that they were in the know during their watch and passed on to you the sad but vital information.  Isn't the real truth of the matter that they themselves have been chiefly responsible for that very thing...food prices going up by continually devaluing the currency printing more money? Isn't that the meaning of government induced INFLATION? I'd suggest a less disingenuous thing for them to say might be, that because of our unwillingness to show restraint, we printed more money THUS your food prices will soar. There AIN'T no two ways about it! Yes I know, " AIN'T " isn...

Sign, Sign Everywhere a Sign!

Will  resistance  be futile? Do you recall the day when advertising on the net was minimal...now we see it entrenched on nearly everything we click. Apparently we haven't come even close to an end where the guardians of the net seek  to make a buck off of our tendency  to be apart of the click-on -world.  Picture the following future scenario...ads on your refrigerator, car dashboards, thermostats, glasses and watches just to name a few! Lets just say one of the giants in the computer online industry has sent a letter to the Securities and Exchange Commissions revealing that's what they'd like to do. What will be next...soap ads as one turns on the tap to shower? How about 3 different commercials all about headache pills before the medicine cabinet will unlock allowing you to take your asprin ?  Could a day come when a higher percentage of the tech assimilated will finally shout out, "Enough is enough! Shut it all off and let's go back to a...

My Thoughts on TV series LOST [2004-2010]

Image
I felt LOST trying to come up with a subject for a blog...then thought why not one about LOST, that is the television series that ran from 2004-2010 ---at one time---the water cooler topic of the day. It gained quite a following but it's popularity began to wane not due in my opinion to any fault of the actors....they went to work and did their job...but no for two basic reasons...the network scheduling of the show left much to be desired as they gave it a rather long hiatus, and also the continual pre-empting of shows. I recall many saying to me through it's run that enough was enough! The second problem? The writing. Yes some might sing the writers praises however not I. I will acknowledge however the series had some good moments. There was a good diversity of characters and to watch how they'd experience interacting with each other was compelling to see.  You had the highly professional and well educated physician, Jack Sheppard learning to relat...

Would You Like A Colourful Town?

Image
How are you for colour or color depending on how you like it? Would you like your streets to look like the above? A little bit too much? Not your your cup of tea? As for me I could live with it and I think enjoy it. It'd certainly make something like walking down the street an interesting outing. For those buying real-estate what would be the requirements. Would it be that you couldn't change the colour of your house so as not to confuse people who'd used such colourful landmarks as a way to give directions?  What if you bought a orange house and decided you wanted to paint it blue? Would all of a town's citizens have to sign on to give you their blessings? What about traditionalists that might claim your house has been blue since 1919 so why bother to change it now? Others might opt for RED but might that be considered a colour insinuating too much passion?                   A...

The Shocking Stunning Weather Event of 1816!!

Image
I couldn't believe it! It couldn't be true! I checked other sources and to my great amazement discovered it was! There was snow on the ground,  in my region of southern Ontario, Canada in the summer months of July and August in the year of 1816! I was doing some research into the history of my city from the book, "Oshawa, The Crossing Between the Waters" published by 'The Alger Press Limited' and came across this, The summer of 1816 was a particularly trying one for the settlement as there was frost in every month of that year. The story of that tragic year is told in W. L. Smith's book "Pioneers of Old Ontario", as related by Benjamin D. Wallbrook, son of an early settler, who recorded it in these words: ' "The spring of 1816 opened with as fair prospects as have ever been seen at the same season. But the sunshine of the year's morn was followed by a long night of dark despair.  Snow commenced falling in June, ...

Footprints In The Sand Of Time--By Walking Backwards

Image
I saw a snippet from history the other day concerning April 15th in the year of 1931.   Apparently that date saw the very 1st Walking Across America backwards event.  Talk about courage! Courage that you'd risk not tripping over something you couldn't see and courage that you'd not be afraid to step out facin g the ridicule of others who'd think you're crazy! I think I'd pass on this one though.    If I were to walk across a whole country I'd want to do it going forward first. We all might all have a different way of doing things though. We are after all...different. . If they're enjoying each step of the journey maybe it's not for me to question. We must make our own footprints in the sands of time. Who knows...perhaps they might see my way of doing things a more sensible way but they learnt it by observation. You know what they say...Life itself can be a learning experience! Fortunately we only have to ta...

Bachelor Pablo Misunderstood?

Image
Tell me I'm not doing a blog about The Bachelor show!  Well I guess I am.  Poor Pablo! His full name... Juan Pablo Galavis .  Nobody seems to like him much, except lady Nicky who claims she's found her love. All Pablo could get out was that he liked her a lot.  The 'Bachelor/Bachelorette show... It's that rather quirky romance series  where approximately 25 members of the opposite sex compete to win the affections of merely one guy...or gal depending if it's the time of the male gender or female, as being the prime star. There's been 18 seasons of the show with the end result of 4 actual weddings which clearly doesn't even come up to a 25% ratio of couples becoming hitched for a life time of martial bliss.    It's not the easiest thing in the world for I as a male to acknowledge I've watched the program as men generally turn the station to something more brutally aggressive like football or a good war film...but the Bachelor/Bachelore...
